For the first time in Myanmar, we have successfully fitted a patient with a fully 3D-printed prosthetic hand. We are thrilled to provide a groundbreaking alternative for patients in the region who need prosthetic solutions.
This achievement has been years in the making. The idea of creating a 3D-printed prosthetic hand in Taunggyi originated with our colleague Jason several years ago. At the time, he noticed the lack of options for patients with upper limb amputations, despite the immense need. Recognizing the potential of 3D printing to revolutionize accessibility, Jason began designing a prosthetic hand that could be produced locally and affordably.
Today, Jason’s vision has become a reality. The first Myanmar patient is now using this innovative, low-cost prosthetic hand, which will be life-changing for him.
And this is just the beginning—new models are already in development!”
